ROUND THE MOUNTAIN
LEGACY FUND
The Round the Mountain Legacy Fund was initially established to set aside a portion of the RTM proceeds for future trail enhancement projects that might fall outside the scope of normal funding. Each year a portion of the proceeds from the event are evenly distributed between the Kootenay Freewheelers Cycling Club, Kootenay Orienteers and the Legacy Fund. The distribution of these funds are now administered by the organising committee of Round the Mountain.

The fund recently contributed $4,000 to the Kimberley Nordic Centre to complete the construction of a new, permanent welcome centre that will replace the existing ticket kiosk trailer. The new facility will be an inviting space for visitors to enter and purchase trail passes, try on rentals, warm up by the fire and ask questions about their facilities, programs and services. The basement of the structure will be a central location where the rental shop and ski programs can securely store their growing fleets of rental equipment. There will also be a year-round accessible washroom for summer and winter trail users that will be available to the public 24/7.

$5,000 was donated to the new gazebo at kilometre 4.5 of the Northstar Rails to Trails

-
Several different signage projects across the Kimberley trail network
